head up high

November 15th, 2006 + 7:11 PM  ·  JBP

Firstly, apparently I am one of the members who have the greates number of songs on here, haha. Just checked it - it's true. I am proud of myself, I can say

Secondly, instead of writing my MA thesis on translating neologisms from English into Polish I am in fact writing a blog seemingly without any reason. Actually, it's my first blog ever, soo... again I am quite proud of myself

Thirdly, today I have talked to a guy who does karaoke shows with my girlfriend (and is a drummer) and we might do a couple of gig sometime in the future. Some of my songs and some cover songs ... Again, I am proud of myself to be open to the world and possibilities it brings.

Fourthly, as usually, I will be spending more time on music soon, I hope. There are a couple of songs that need some lyrics (any Polish lyric writers out there who are willing to help me?) and also need finishing. Again, I will most probably be very proud of myself if you turn out to like them after I have posted them on here.

Keep you fingers crossed for me. GTG.

JBP & Flyer7747 - Funny how time change

May 21st, 2013 + 7:05 AM  ·  JBP

Ralph (aka Flyer7747) *RIP

I found this on my computer.
A couple of years back I did an instrumental for a film and posted it on here.
Ralph Flyer7747 liked it enough to add his vocals, and write words.
Now that he has passed away, it's very special to me.
I hope some of you can appreciate the work he put into this tune.
It may be that he posted it on bandamp himself, but it would be a different version. Not sure if he did, though.

Anyway, here it is.

Living FREE (JBP & JIMinUK)

November 28th, 2008 + 8:11 PM  ·  JBP

Jim doesn't know about it yet but I have used his lyrics from the Lyric forum....
I hope he doesn't mind. I composed the song as I went along recording it.
Let me know what you think, please. Just finished so it's as fresh as it gets.
I have left the third verse for Jim to sing to - if you want to, Jim!

The lyrics: http://forum.bandamp.com/Lyrics_Review/14960.html

Living Free

My life has become me,
My world all around me.
Thinking of the way I live
And what I do
And who I see
And why

I live in safe seclusion
Come on in to my illusion
Be blinded by my show
The more you see
The less you know
The more you see
The less you know
Of me

So now it's all inside me
Gagged and tied, but living free
Not giving clues to any one
In what I do
And what I say
No way

Fooled by my delusion
The simple and plain conclusion
I lost something when I let you go
Time to break free
Of this memory
Breaking free
Of the memory
Of you

PS.
Oh, dear! I've just noticed that Jim is already doing this song with Denis...

Audience attention???

October 22nd, 2008 + 4:10 AM  ·  JBP

The band's music (songs) aside, do you have any tricks or trusted formulas to get the full attention of the audience throughout a concert/gig?

How about clothes, different instruments, or things you do on stage, etc, anything really?

Maybe there are things you have found to be disastrous when done or performed on stage?

Are there any things you hate to see the band do on stage when you're watching a gig?

My first suggestion is never to give your bandmates a surprised look or a look full of hatered when they have made a mistake or screwd sth up in a song, say a wrong chord. I guess you just have to smile along cause the audience will definitely notice what's happened. When I was watching a video of a concert of an unknown band and saw the surprised faces once the bass player made a mistake, I felt it should never have happened.

BTW - very cool video by Travis
